This year the Race Track of Morac Graz was chosen for the 1:5 TC European Championship in July 2007, and for this reason a lot of the EC participants headed towards Austria in the mid of May for the warmup and to get to know the track.
The first drivers arrived already on Wednesday at the location and began with their practising. The times on Thursday were up to short 21 seconds. Nevertheless the track turned out to be quite tricky as there were many smaller bumps which didn’t really make it easier to get the model balanced.
On Friday Arnaldi, Feldmann, Bernauer and Bayer were the fastest on the track. During the first pre-run Arnaldi drove the best time in front of Feldmann and secured himself the pole. After the first heat the sun came through and the grip increased extremly. That again was a complete new situation for all the drivers. At last M. Feldmann was the only one to finish all pre-runs with 29 laps, but still he could not reach the pole time of Arnaldi. Behind both of them C. Wohlert, J. Bernauer and M. Mielke followed.
On Sunday morning it was raining between the final runs. This of course was an extreme unlucky situation for those whose turn it was to drive.
M. Feldmann and J. Bernauer leaded and won the semi-final B, followed by I. Oddie, C. Flakowski and M. Körner.
In the semi-final A Arnaldi rather flapped away right from the start and dropped off Martin Bayer quite well. However after 10 minutes run Arnaldi had problems with his tires and Bayer was able to win the semi-final, followed by Arnaldi, Schummer, Wohlert, Veseli and Mielke.
In the final M. Feldmann was able to profit from his pole and took over the lead in front of M. Bayer. The two of them set the speed and no one could follow. Unfortunately Bayer lost a damper and therefore a lot of time, so he fell back. Arnaldi had some crashs in the beginning and wasn’t able to endanger Feldmanns lead. He finished the competition as second, followed by Jenny Bernauer on the 3rd place. |
